Background: Rajani is the daughter of two very strict, conservative, Muslim parents. She has an older brother Kumar, whom, much like his parents is very protective of his little sister, since she was born blind. Her parents, along with Kumar, are charged with being her "protectors" though she feels that they are going a bit too far. She is not allowed to do much of anything that "normal" girls her age do, because her parents feel that she will always end up getting hurt one way or another because of her disability. However, she doesn't see her blindness as crippling. In fact, she embraces it, and just because she can't see, doesn't mean she can't do anything else. She's tried to tell her parents this, but they refuse to listen, though her brother empathizes with her and eases up on his part.



Obviously in this picture she's in her school uniform. i may do her friends later when i have more time on my hands. ^^ Her friends include

Seth Yun: Seth is....well....Seth is Seth. He was orphaned when his parent died in a horrific car accident and he now lives with his aunt and uncle. The rest of his family either live in China or Korea, so he only gets to see them when he travels for vacation, which he does every chance he gets. His parents were very wealthy, so he's got a TON of inheritance, though he's not one to gallivant around town about it. He is very much interested in his culture both past and present and has come to grow fond of the Korean band Super Junior (he is an EXTREME Super Junior fanatic) to the point where Aiden worries about his sanity...and sexuality. (xD) His goal in life is to audition for SM Entertainment and become a member of a Korean boy-band.


Aiden Porter: Aiden is the only child of an abusive/drunk father. His mother died when he was very young and ever since then his father never seemed to get over it. He is constantly beaten by his father, sometimes to the point where he would have to be taken to the hospital. He has a very close friend named Seth Yun, and he constantly goes over to stay sometimes for long periods of time (i.e. a week or two....the longest he's stayed was about 1 month). He is very quiet and doesn't necessarily talk much, though he's got a good heart. He is one of the top students in school, though having dyslexia does make it a challenge for him. The only person who knows about his past is Seth. Aiden is a gifted pianist and hopes to one day go to college to study classical piano music.


Alaura Peters: She's the other laid back one in the group, though she can be sort of a spazz. He has a big crush on Kumar who doesn't really seem to notice her....like AT ALL. She takes every opportunity to "flaunt her stuff" in the hopes of Kumar noticing her, even though she knows what she's doing could make him have a bad impression on her....(i.e. he thinks she's a slut) She has a little brother named Stephan who tries his best to help her out in the guy area and they're very close.


Stephan Peters: He's Alaura's younger brother, he helps her out in the love-life department, telling her what and how she should do things. He is gay, though his sister is the only one who seems to know. The others figure it out as time goes on but they keep it under wraps cuz they don't want him to be ridiculed. He is very cheerful and sweet though he says things that can make people want to hit him. But he means well.


Amir Mahmoud: Amir is one of the most laid back in the crew. He takes things as they go and nothing really ever bothers him. He's a really nice guy who secretly has a crush on Rajani. His mother is divorced, which doesn't fly over well with Rajani's parents cuz they believe it is against Islam to get a divorce at all. (my friend and i don't necessarily think this is true...if you want a divorce and you're Muslim...get a freakin divorce!) Therefore, he is restricted by her parents to hang out with Kumar and Rajani. He is allowed only b/c he is Muslim, though some of what he and his mother believe isn't the same as what Rajani's parents believe. (omg, so confusing i know! i'm confused too!!) He works part time to help him mother out with bills and stuff, and he plans to go into college after he graduates. Where? He hasn't really figure out yet, but he would like to major in English


Kumar Mishra: He has a very close bond with his sister and feels his role as Older Brother is very important to him. He would do anything for his sister, and is very protective of her b/c of her blindness. He would never let anything bad happen to her and if that DOES happen he feels extremely guilty. He is basically in charge of Rajani along with his parents and he takes that very seriously. He and his sister both feel that their parents strict religious views have made them miss out on a lot of things (i.e. friends, social life, etc...) though he has been rebelling against them in subtle ways. (i.e. talking back, swearing, not doing the prayers...) He does love his family very much though.
